Product details
One of the most common forms of light in the world is LED, or light emitting diodes. These lights are typically made up of three layers of semiconductor material. The first layer is the cathode, the second layer is the anode, and the third layer is the substrate. The first two layers are oppositely charged and when current is applied, electrons from the cathode and the anode will move towards the oppositely charged layer. This movement creates an electric field that causes the electrons to accelerate and emit photons, or light. The photon emission process will continue until the current is cut off. LED lights are more efficient than other types of light because they do not require a filament or incandescent gas to produce light. This light bulb from Panasonic is a 0.5 watt LED bulb that emits warm white light that mimics the sun. It has a light intensity of 220 lumens and will last up to 22 years with a rated life of 25,000 hours. This light bulb has a diameter of 4.5 inches and will fit in any standard household socket.
